This trick was a political one. Lixuri, from its situation, is better calculated for a commercial spot than Argostoli. Besides this advantage, the air is better, not being so impregnated with marshmiasma. Argostoli, on the other hand , is the residence of the principal mobility, who seek every opportunity of depopulating the rival town , persuading the inhabi tants to migrate from thence,and establish themselves inthe favored city.

Αυτό το κόλπο ήταν πολιτικής φύσης. Το Ληξούρι, λόγω της κατάστασης του, θεωρείται σημαντικότερο εμπορικό σημείο σε σχέση με το Αργοστόλι. Εκτός από αυτό το πλεονέκτημα, ο αέρας είναι καλύτερος μη έχοντας εμποτιστεί σε τέτοιο βαθμό από τη δυσοσμία. Το Αργοστόλι, από την άλλη πλευρά, είναι η στέγη του κυρίου κινήματος, που αναζητά κάθε ευκαιρία να εκτοπίσει την αντίπαλη πόλη, να πείσει τους κατοίκους να μεταναστεύσουν από εκεί και να εγκατασταθούν στην ευνοημένη πόλη.

Το Ληξούρι είναι η κύρια πόλη στη χερσόνησο Παλική και η δεύτερη μεγαλύτερη πόλη της Κεφαλλονιάς μετά από το Αργοστόλι. Η υψομετρική ανύψωση της πόλης είναι μηδενική.

Lixouri (Greek: Ληξούρι) is the main town on the peninsula of Paliki in the island of Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands of western Greece. Lixouri is the second largest town in Kefalonia after Argostoli and before Sami and is the capital of the peninsula. It is located south of Fiskardo and west of Argostoli.
