Το υποδέχεται ένας μοναχός, ο οποίος του προσφέρει ένα άνετο δωμάτιο και κρασί. Ο Pashley σημειώνει ότι σε όλα τα μοναστήρια που επισκέφτηκε το κρασί ήταν θεσπέσιο. Ο συγγραφέας εντυπωσιάζεται από τις εικόνες της μονής, οι οποίες, κατά την Επανάσταση, μεταφέρθηκαν στην Τεργέστη για να μην καταστραφούν από τους μουσουλμάνους. Την ημέρα της αναχώρησής του, του προσφέρουν πρόγευμα με πιλάφι με αγκινάρες και κρασί.

He is welcomed by a monk, who offers him a comfortable room and wine. Pashley notes that in all the monasteries he visited the wine was magnificent. The author is impressed by the icons of the monastery, which, during the Revolution, were transported to Trieste so as not to be destroyed by the Muslims. On the day of his departure, they offer him breakfast with pilaf with artichokes and wine.

Half an hour's riding from Pyrgos brings us to a er which we cross : the monastery of Gonia is about three miles before us at some little elevation above the shore ; and we have for some time seen " The convent's white walls glisten fair on high." The olive-trees on our left, for a considerable distance, are entirely uncul tivated. We cross another small river, just before winding round the south-west corner of the gulf, and, in a few minutes more, arrive at the monastery, situated on the side of rocky hills, and only about a hundred paces from the sea. The Hegumenos is absent : the senior Pateras however does the honours, shewing us into a very comfortable room, and causing dinner to be prepared. The wine which is produced fully supports the credit of monastic institutions.

Η Μονή Οδηγητρίας Κυρίας Γωνιάς είναι ανδρική σταυροπηγιακή μονή κοντά στο Κολυμβάρι Χανίων, στη δυτική Κρήτη. Είναι κτισμένη στο μύχο του κόλπου Χανίων, περίπου 25 χιλιόμετρα δυτικά από τα Χανιά. Κοντά στη μονή βρίσκεται η Ορθόδοξη Ακαδημία Κρήτης.

Kolymvari (Greek: Κολυμβάρι, Δήμος Κολυμβαρίου), also known as Kolymbari (Greek: Κολυμπάρι), is a coastal town at the southeastern end of the Rodopou peninsula on the Gulf of Chania. Kolymvari was formerly a municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it has been a municipal unit of the municipality Platanias. It was also formerly part of the Kissamos province, which covered the northwest of Chania Prefecture. The municipal unit has an area of 149.99 km2 (57.91 sq mi), including the mostly uninhabited and barren Rodopou peninsula to the west and some villages to the south: Rodopou, Afrata, Vasilopoulo, Spilia, Kares, Episkopi, Vouves, Glossa, Panethimos, Nochia, Deliana, Drakona, Ravdouchas, Kalidonia, and Kamisiana.
