Τα Κύθηρα είναι η πρωτεύουσα του ομώνυμου νησιού και υπάγoνται στην Περιφέρεια Αττικής. Είναι Έδρα και Τοπική έδρα του Δήμου Κυθήρων όπως αυτός συστάθηκε σύμφωνα με το Πρόγραμμα Καλλικράτης. Από το 1997 έως το 2010 σύμφωνα με το Σχέδιο Καποδίστριας ανήκαν διοικητικά στον παλαιότερο Δήμο Κυθήρων. Βρίσκονται στο νότιο μέρος του νησιού και ο πληθυσμός του ανέρχεται σε 267 κατοίκους σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2001.

Kythira is the capital of the homonymous island and belongs to the Attica Region. It is the Headquarters and Local Headquarters of the Municipality of Kythera as it was established according to the Kallikratis Program. From 1997 to 2010 according to the Kapodistrias Plan they belonged administratively to the older Municipality of Kythera. They are located in the southern part of the island and its population is 267 inhabitants according to the 2001 census.
