J'avaisàma droite une petite chapelle turque, que l'on nomme chec souiou ou l'eau du chek; c'était apparemment la qualité que prenait celui qui fonda cette chapelle, auprès de laquelle est une source d'eau très-pure et très-limpide.

Το Σέιχ Σου, αποκαλούμενο και Κεδρηνός Λόφος, είναι περιαστικό δάσος της Θεσσαλονίκης που εκτείνεται στις νότιες και νοτιοδυτικές πλαγιές του Χορτιάτη μέχρι και το δρόμο Επταπυργίου – Ασβεστοχωρίου. Αποτελεί πνεύμονα της πόλης και χώρο αναψυχής των κατοίκων της. Η ονομασία Σέιχ Σου (τουρκ. Șeyh su) μεταφράζεται «νερό του Σεΐχη» και προήλθε από τη βρύση που υπήρχε σε μουσουλμανικό νεκρικό μνημείο (τουρμπέ), το ερείπιο του οποίου υπάρχει ακόμα στην τοποθεσία Χίλια Δέντρα (όπως ήταν και η πρώτη ονομασία του αρχικού πυρήνα του δάσους από την εποχή της Τουρκοκρατίας). Η ονομασία Κεδρηνός Λόφος υιοθετήθηκε ως προτιμητέα ελληνική μετά από πρόταση του ποιητή Γεωργίου Βαφόπουλου στο Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της πόλης.

Sheikh Sou, also called Kedrinos Lofos, is a suburban forest of Thessaloniki that extends on the southern and southwestern slopes of Chortiatis up to the Eptapyrgiou - Asvestochori road. It is the lung of the city and the recreation area of its inhabitants. The name Sheikh Su (Turkish: heyh su) translates as "water of the Sheikh" and came from the fountain that existed in a Muslim funeral monument (turbe), the ruin of which still exists at the site of Thousand Trees (as was the first name of the original core of the forest from the time of Ottoman rule). The name Kedrinos Lofos was adopted as the preferred Greek one after a proposal by the poet Georgios Vafopoulos to the Board of Directors of the city.
