Ο συγγραφέας καταλύει στο χωριό για αρκετά βράδια, καθώς λαμβάνει μέρος στους εορτασμούς του Πάσχα, οι οποίοι περιγράφονται αναλυτικά, και κυρίως η αναπαράσταση του Θείου Πάθος τη Μεγάλη Εβδομάδα Δεν ξεχνά φυσικά να σημειώσει την καλή ποιότητα κρασιού που παράγει η περιοχή.

Το Νίπος ή Νίππος είναι ορεινό χωριό του νομού Χανίων με πληθυσμό 167 κατοίκους σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2011. Ανήκει στο δήμο Αποκορώνου. Απέχει 33 χιλιόμετρα από τα Χανιά. Οι κάτοικοι του χωριού ασχολούνται με την γεωργία και την κτηνοτροφία, ενώ σημαντικότερα προϊόντα παραγωγής του αποτελούν το ελαιόλαδο, το κρασί και η σταφίδα. Η πιο παλιά αναφορά του χωριού γίνεται το 1301 σε συμβόλαιο του Benv. De Brixano, συμβολαιογράφο από τον Χάνδακα. Στην απογραφή του 1583 (Καστροφύλακας Κ237) αναφέρεται ως Nipo με 224 κατοίκους. Από το Νίππος καταγόταν ο Κρητικός Οπλαρχηγός Εμμανουήλ Κατσίγαρης, αγωνιστής στον Μακεδονικό Αγώνα εναντίον των Βουλγάρων και των Τούρκων. Χαρακτιρίζεται από τα 1500 (βλ. Sr Brixano) μέχρι και σήμερα ως ένα από τα καλύτερα χωριά του Αποκόρωνα εκ άποψης περιβάλλοντος .

Nipos or Nippos is a mountain village in the prefecture of Chania with a population of 167 inhabitants according to the 2011 census. It belongs to the municipality of Apokoronas. It is 33 km from Chania. The inhabitants of the village are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, while the most important products of its production are olive oil, wine and raisins. The oldest reference to the village is made in 1301 in a Benv contract. De Brixano, notary from Chandakas. In the census of 1583 (Kastrofylakas K237) it is mentioned as Nipo with 224 inhabitants. The Cretan Chief Emmanuel Katsigaris, a fighter in the Macedonian Struggle against the Bulgarians and the Turks, came from Nippos. It has been characterized since 1500 (see Sr Brixano) until today as one of the best villages of Apokoronas in terms of environment.
