i now begin an ascent which lasts for near an hour, when I arrive at the village of Theriso. The number of olive-trees about these villages of the Rhiza is not great ; neither is there much arable land near them : the flocks of the district are however numerous.

Το Θέρισο (παλαιότερα αναφερόταν και ως η Θέρισσος) είναι ιστορικό χωριό του δήμου Χανίων του ομώνυμου νομού της Κρήτης που διαδραμάτισε σημαντικό ρόλο στα διάφορα επαναστατικά κινήματα της Κρήτης του 19ου αιώνα, ενώ από αυτό έλαβε την ονομασία του το 1905 το ομώνυμο κίνημα εναντίον της αρμοστείας του πρίγκιπα Γεωργίου. Σύμφωνα με τα επίσημα στοιχεία της απογραφής του 2011, ο πληθυσμός του οικισμού ανέρχεται σε 113 κατοίκους.

Therissos (formerly referred to as Therissos) is a historic village in the municipality of Chania in the homonymous prefecture of Crete that played an important role in the various revolutionary movements of Crete in the 19th century, from which the homonymous movement against the commission was named in 1905 of Prince George. According to the official data of the 2011 census, the population of the settlement amounts to 113 inhabitants.
