Στο χωριό λειτουργούν επίσης καταστήματα, κταβέρνες, καφενεία και χώροι διαμονής. Η κύρια ασχολία των κατοίκων είναι η γεωργία, κυρίως εσπεριδοειδή και ελιές, και η κτηνοτροφία.

en Vryses is a village in the prefecture of Chania which is the seat of the Municipality of Apokoronas. It is a relatively new village, which was recognized as a separate community in 1925, but today has become a major center of commercial and residential activity by its commercially active inhabitants. According to the 2011 census, it has 740 permanent residents, while the municipal district has 794 inhabitants and includes the settlements of Filippos and Getim Metochi. In Vrises there are 4 Schools (Kindergarten & All Day, Primary & All Day, High School and TEE), City Hall, Police Department, Fire Station, Post Office, Agricultural Clinic and ATM of the National Bank. The village also has shops, taverns, cafes and accommodation. The main occupation of the inhabitants is agriculture, mainly citrus and olives, and animal husbandry.
