Soon after sureiseI walked round what is called Selini-Kasteli: it consists of the remains of the old Vene tian fort, which is celebrated in the history of the revolt headed by Varda Kalerghi in 1332, when it was taken by assault. It is about fifty paces square : the height of its walls, where they are now standing, is about thirty feet. There is a good engraving of the ancient fort and bay in Dapper's work

Κάστρο που κτίστηκε τον 13ο αιώνα από τους Ενετούς ως έδρα της ομώνυμης καστελανίας και για να ελέγχει τους θαλάσσιους δρόμους προς τη βόρεια Αφρική. Ανακατασκευάστηκε επανειλημμένα μέχρι τα μέσα του 17ου αιώνα, ενώ στα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα χρησίμευσε ως κουλές.

A castle built in the 13th century by the Venetians as the seat of the homonymous Castellania and to control the sea routes to North Africa. It was rebuilt repeatedly until the middle of the 17th century, while at the end of the 19th century it served as a tower.
